If not, let me introduce myself. I’m Connie Malamed, the founder of a learning community, publisher of The eLearning Coach website and podcast, learning design consultant, author and international speaker. My graduate degree is in Instructional Design & Technology and as an undergrad I studied art education.

I have many years of experience in the trenches and I still love this field! The eLearning Coach is where I share actionable strategies, practical content, product reviews and resources to help you design, develop and understand learning, instructional design and visual design. I love making products for learning professionals. You can read about them below.

I wrote two books…

Please check out my books if you’d like to improve your visual design skills for instructional materials. The most current title is Visual Design Solutions. This was written to bring greater awareness of visual design and to improve the design skills of learning professionals. My other book, Visual Language for Designers, explains how to design for the human mind—something that’s very important in eLearning. Plus it includes over 250 graphics contributed by designers, illustrators, infographic artists and other creative people from around the world.

Mastering Instructional Design is a private membership community for those who want to switch to a career in instructional design or want to improve their foundation skills. The community has a forum, lots of self-paced courses, live courses, an instructional design toolkit, and monthly speakers and Q&A calls. You can join at Mastering Instructional Design.

wrote a free email course about starting a career in instructional design…

I received so many emails about what a career in instructional design is like, I wrote this 12-lesson course to answer the many questions. You will get two lessons a week if you sign up at Breaking Into Instructional Design.

and started a podcast in 2013.
